Running Start at Hawai'i Community College (HawCC) and University of Hawai'i-Hilo (UHH) is an optional program designed to provide academic opportunities for qualified high school juniors and seniors. Students are able to enroll in HawCC and UHH classes and earn both college and high school credits.
Who's Eligible?
11th and 12th grade students
Qualifications
Placement in 100-level classes through the Accuplacer Test or equivalent placement tests in reading, writing, and/or math.
3.0 GPA
How to apply?
Meet with your school counselor
Complete both the UH System Application Form and Running Start Enrollment Form
Print and turn in schedule from STAR account to Registrar before attending your first class.
Grade Reporting
Turn in grades from your STAR account or submit an official transcript to Registrar no later than 2 weeks after the course has ended.
Failure to submit grades by deadline will result in recording an "F" on your transcript.
